Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, this concept is always reiterated by doctors and nutritionists and is too often underestimated. In the morning we run, some run away to work, some go to school and sometimes we bite into something on the fly or leave the house with just a coffee. Many people skip breakfast, another large percentage makes questionable dietary choices.
Why is it essential to have a good breakfast?
Due to a dietary principle , those who eat little or poorly at breakfast will tend to have a greater appetite during the day and therefore, necessarily, eat more. This is a risk, both from a food and dietary point of view.
Breakfast is an essential meal, the fuel that gets your body started for the day. It must therefore be nutritious, giving the right amount for adequate performance, at least until lunch. Anyone who tends to eat an unsuitable breakfast will experience tiredness, mood swings and difficulty concentrating.
Furthermore, for the metabolism we should start with a rich meal in the morning and progressively decrease over the course of the day, not vice versa. This is because in the morning the body must assimilate the charge for the whole day, it is fine to eat something that fills you up and gives you energy. The other two main meals, however, must recharge for a small number of hours, especially dinner. For this reason, something very light should be preferred. Often, however, we tend to reverse the organization by eating more at dinner and little in the morning.
Improving your diet is possible and also necessary to counteract the signs of aging, optimize the necessary energy, avoid too much digestive effort for the body and above all insulin swings which can damage in the long run.
What does the body need?
To be healthy and fit, the body needs water, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and fibre. During the five daily meals, the foods consumed provide supplies for everything you need, based on age and gender.
Proteins are essential, they arise from the combination of amino acids and are used to make antibodies, hemoglobin and hormones work. They make up cells, enter muscles and bones, perform metabolic functions and provide energy. Carbohydrates give energy, are fundamental for the immune system, for the fertility and development of the organism and must therefore never be completely removed.
Fats, the good ones, are very important and should not be underestimated. Plant foods are rich in them. Vitamins and minerals are essential, always. Our body needs it to function and to avoid health problems. Vitamins are molecules that the body uses to develop and function better. These are important at every age and ensure adequate growth. Microelements such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, zinc are important as they are always involved in the processes that the body must carry out.
Through a healthy, varied and complete diet, people take in all these elements they need. Intensifying their intake with products such as spirulina algae is a useful way to improve daily intake, this is because the idea of five daily meals based on fruit and vegetables, the correct quantity of carbohydrates and natural fats. What to eat for breakfast?
On average, each person must consume between 15 and 20% of daily calories for breakfast. So everyone must know what their needs are to know what to eat. For optimal needs, nutrition must be varied, complete and always correct, favoring fresh products over pre-packaged ones.
A good breakfast must provide vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, minerals, carbohydrates and also good fats and sugars. This is because it must restore the body's carbohydrate reserves for the day. In fact, during the night the digestive system stimulates the detoxification process. In the morning you need to stimulate it, without exaggerating.
Below we want to show you two examples of what you could eat for breakfast to start the day in the best possible way.
The spirulina smoothie is in all respects an extremely simple and quick to prepare superfood with a surprising color, ideal for providing the right morning dose of energy.
- 1 banana
- 200 ml of vegetable milk
- Half a teaspoon of Becagli spirulina or a sachet of Spiruday Severino Becagli
- You could add: vanilla, cinnamon, chia seeds or hemp seeds to taste
- Cut the banana into slices and insert it into the blender, pour in the vegetable milk (we recommend coconut or oat milk) and add the spirulina and blend everything until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
- Pour everything into the glass and sprinkle with chopped almonds if you want
- To make it cooler you can add an ice cube before blending.
- It is advisable to consume the smoothie immediately otherwise it will tend to oxidize.
Protein pancake with chocolate chips and spirulina honey
Protein pancakes are an excellent alternative to classic pancakes for those who want to start the day with energy without exaggerating with sugars

- 1 tablespoon of water
- 30 g of brown sugar
- 50 g of wholemeal flour

- Italian organic honey with Becagli spirulina
- Pour the egg whites and brown sugar into a bowl, whip the mixture and then add the flour and baking powder. If the mixture is too thick you can add a little water.

- Once the pancake is ready, add the organic honey with spirulina and some chocolate chips.
What not to eat for breakfast
Among the meals chosen there are milk, yogurt, biscuits, fresh fruit, jam and juice. Surely croissants and croissants are everyone's dream in the morning, next to a cup of hot milk or a nice coffee, however you have to take into account what your body needs.
It is not advisable to eat croissants every day because they are rich in animal fats such as butter, sugar, hydrogenated fats and therefore have a low filling power and a high caloric intake. Foods that are able to fill you up and do it in the right way should be preferred. Cereals are optimal in milk or yogurt but only if they are natural and free of sugars and additives. For optimal nutrition there must be lots of fibre, few calories, no hydrogenated fats, tropical oils or additives.
Rusks are like bread, even in this case careful selection is important so as not to choose those with margarine, tropical oils and preservatives but prefer something with iron, vitamins and wholemeal flours. To save time and money you can always make a slice of bread, preferably wholemeal, toasted which never fails.
Wanting a dessert or a treat is obviously normal, in this case it is better to prepare a cake at home, perhaps with the addition of spirulina powder to ensure a good vitamin intake and also the possibility of enjoying a good meal prepared hot and with perfectly natural and scrupulously selected ingredients.
